Wheelchair After School Program at Summerside Intermediate School
2010-04-29

After School Wheelchair Basketball Program Offered in Summerside

For the first time ever, ParaSport and Recreation will be offering a free Wheelchair Basketball After School Program in the Summerside area. The program will run every Thursday for six consecutive weeks beginning April 29th, 2010 from 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm. It will run out of Summerside Intermediate School.

The program is designed to teach basic skills of wheelchair basketball through a variety of drills and activities. Stephen Farquharson, the 2011 Wheelchair Basketball Canada Games Coach will be running the program.

ParaSport and Recreation also hopes to raise awareness of wheelchair basketball in Prince County by offering this program. It will give the students an opportunity to try a new sport and become physically active in a fun and interactive environment.

The sessions are open to students, grades 7-12. The target group is individuals with a physical disability; however, all students are welcome to participate.

Should you require any additional information about the program, or to register please contact Cathleen MacKinnon at the ParaSport and Recreation PEI office by calling (902) 368-4540 or by email cathleen@parasportpei.ca.
